The Center for Public Safety Excellence (CPSE®) is seeking to fill the Volunteer Fire Chief vacancy on its Commission on Professional Credentialing® (CPC®). The successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to influence the future of credentialing.

This position is open to any Chief Fire Officer (CFO) designee currently serving as a Volunteer Fire Chief and that will be serving in such a capacity for at least the next 3 years.

This position is voluntary, and no compensation will be paid by CPSE. However, CPSE will reimburse for reasonable travel expenses.

Appointed member will serve an initial three (3) year term with an option of two (2) additional three (3) year terms dependent on active engagement as a commissioner.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Attend meetings (2 in-person meetings per year plus 4-5 web meetings per year)
  • Respond to monthly eballots
  • Review all relevant materials before meetings
  • Make contributions and voice objections to issues
  • Timely response to inquiries
  • Carry out individual assignments made by Commission Chair
  • Work as part of a commission and staff team to ensure the commission proposes policies and/or conducts business in an ethical and efficient manner
  • Represent CPC at other industry meetings, conferences, trade shows, and at other times as required and schedule permitting
  • Participation in and/or leading of task groups to conduct specific Commission work assignments
